Well, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout that Las Vegas GP FP1 thing. What a mouthful! Sounds fancy, huh? I reckon it’s some kinda car race. They go zoom zoom real fast. My grandson, he’s all into that kinda stuff. Me? I prefer a good ol’ sit-down with a cup of tea. But I guess them young’uns like all that excitement.
They say this thing, this Las Vegas GP, it’s a big deal. Happens in Las Vegas, that place with all them bright lights and such. They got them fancy cars, all shiny and new. Not like my old truck, bless her heart. She’s got some years on her, but she still gets me around.
This FP1, it’s like a… a warm-up, I reckon. Like when I gotta stretch my old bones before I tend to my garden. They gotta get them cars ready, make sure they’re runnin’ right. Can’t have ’em breakin’ down in the middle of the race, now can we?
This race is somethin’, they say it’s the 22nd one. That’s a lot of races! My old bones can’t keep up that pace. They say it’s part of somethin’ called Formula 1. Sounds important, like somethin’ the president would be watchin’.
They do this FP1 on a Thursday, I hear. In Las Vegas, the time is different. Like when you call your cousin across the country, and they’re just wakin’ up when you’re eatin’ lunch. It’s all topsy-turvy.
- Thursday, that’s when they do that FP1 thing. At 6:30 pm, whatever that means.
- Then they do another one, FP2, at 10 pm. They sure do like to race at night, don’t they?
- Then there is something called FP3 on Friday at 6:30 pm, and also a qualifyin’ session at 10 pm.
I heard them say somethin’ about ESPN. That’s one of them channels on the TV, ain’t it? We don’t get that one. We just got the basic ones. But I guess if you’re real into this Las Vegas GP FP1, you gotta have that channel.
My grandson, he’s got one of them fancy phones. He can watch anything on it. He says he can watch this race on it. Technology these days, it’s somethin’ else. Back in my day, we were lucky if we got a radio signal that was clear enough to hear the weather.
This race, it’s on a Saturday night. But if you’re here, like me, it’s on Sunday mornin’. Early, too! 6 am! Who’s up that early on a Sunday? Well, I guess them race car folks are. I’ll be sleepin’ in, that’s for sure.
They say this race is in a place called “Sin City”. Sounds a bit naughty, don’t it? I reckon there’s a lot of carryin’ on in that place. Not my cup of tea, but I guess some folks like that kinda thing. I prefer a nice quiet evening at home.
These drivers, they’re somethin’ else. They go so fast! I can’t even imagine. I get nervous just drivin’ down to the grocery store. They must have nerves of steel, them drivers. I couldn’t do it. I’d be too scared.
So this Las Vegas GP FP1, it’s a whole thing, ain’t it? Lots of folks are talkin’ about it. Some people are really into it. They plan their day around it. Like some folks I know, waitin’ for their soap opera show to start. Same kinda thing.
I reckon it’s important to them that’s into it. Like my quiltin’ is important to me. It’s somethin’ to do, somethin’ to be excited about. Even if I don’t understand it, I can appreciate that it makes them happy. And that’s all that matters, right?
Well, I gotta get back to my chores. Got a whole pile of laundry that ain’t gonna fold itself. And them chickens ain’t gonna feed themselves either. You young folks enjoy that Las Vegas GP FP1, if that’s your thing. Me? I’ll be here, enjoying the simple life. That’s good enough for me.
