So, I came across this term “comedy club hosts for short” and got a bit curious. I mean, we all go to these clubs, laugh our butts off, but do we ever really think about the abbreviation for the hosts? I didn’t, until today.
First thing I did was to try to think of what it could be. Host…hosts…for short. Nothing came to mind. It’s not like “Doctor” becoming “Dr.” or anything obvious like that. So, I did what any normal person would do – I typed “comedy club hosts for short” into the search bar.
The results were interesting. There were tons of pages talking about crossword clues. Apparently, it’s a popular clue in the NYT Mini Crossword. I saw a bunch of websites listing possible answers. One mentioned a 3-letter answer, another said there were like 30, and another claimed 40! It was all over the place.

- I even tried to log in to my old Squarespace account to maybe look for something. I did not make it at all.
After going through all that, I found the simple answer that appeared most often. You ready for it? It’s MCs. Yeah, like Master of Ceremonies. Makes sense, right? They’re the ones who run the show, introduce the comedians, keep the energy up.
Conclusion
So, that’s my little adventure for today. Learned something new, even if it’s kinda trivial. Next time I’m at a comedy club, I’ll know what to call the host in short. It’s a small thing, but hey, it’s fun to learn these little things, right?
