Where Is Le Golf National and How Do I Get There Easily?

So, I’ve been hearing a lot about this place called Le Golf National. You know, the one that’s hosted the French Open like a zillion times and even the Ryder Cup back in 2018. I’m not much of a golfer myself, but I was curious. Where the heck is this place, anyway? So, I decided to do some digging.

Where Is Le Golf National and How Do I Get There Easily?

First, I found out that it’s actually open to the public. No need to be a pro or anything. You can even book your tee time online, which is pretty cool.

Next, I wanted to figure out how to get there from Paris, because that’s where I figured most people would be coming from. Turns out, the cheapest way is by train. It takes a little over an hour and only costs a few euros. Not bad, right? If you’re in a hurry, you can always grab a taxi, but that’ll set you back a bit more and only saves you about 45 minutes.

What’s so special about it?

Apparently, Le Golf National isn’t just some boring old golf course. It’s been around since 1990. They’ve got three courses there. Two of them are these big 18-hole ones. One is called the Albatros course, and it’s the one where they’ve been holding the French Open since ’91. It is the place of the golf event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The other big one’s called the Aigle course, and it’s supposed to remind you of courses by the sea.

I also did check out how to get to the Le Golf National station by public transport. I found some bus lines that go there, like 39-12, 5152, and a few others. Seems pretty accessible.

Oh, and I discovered that it’s pretty close to Charles de Gaulle Airport – only about 46 kilometers away. So, if you’re flying in, it’s not too far of a trek.

One more thing, it’s the French Federation of Golf’s main spot. They call it their “flagship facility.” Guess it’s a pretty big deal in the French golfing world.

So, there you have it. My little investigation into Le Golf National. Seems like a cool place, even if you’re not a huge golf fan. Maybe I’ll check it out sometime, just to see what all the fuss is about. Might even try to hit a few balls, who knows?
