Consignors Empire LLC vs. The Rest (See How They Compare to Other Options)

Okay, so let’s talk about this whole consignor thing. I had to set up a company called “Consignor’s Empire LLC” recently, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey.

First off, I had to figure out what a consignor even was. Turns out, it’s basically someone who sends goods to someone else to sell, but they don’t actually own the stuff. Makes sense, right? So, I’m the consignor, and I’m sending my stuff to this other company (the consignee) to sell for me. That’s how I started this consignor’s role.

Then came the fun part – setting up the actual company. I had to get all the paperwork in order, register the name, and make it all official. That took some time, and I had to read through a bunch of legal stuff I didn’t really understand. I just wanted to sell my things! But anyway, I pushed through and got it all done.

The Selling Starts

Once the company was up and running, it was time to start sending stuff out. I used this platform called ConsignCloud, which apparently is pretty popular. They had this feature where I could see the status of my account in real-time, which was super helpful. No more calling customer service every day to check on my sales! This step made me so happy, I started to really sell a lot of stuff.

Now, the payment part was interesting. I learned that when something sells, the money goes through this whole process before it gets to me. The buyer pays the consignee, and then the consignee takes their cut, and finally, I get paid. It’s like a little money river flowing from the buyer to me. This process is a little bit long but it works well.

Shipment and Responsibility

  • I also found out about this site, which is like a big community for people in the shipping world. I didn’t end up using it much, but it’s good to know it’s there. My main job as a consignor, though, was just to make sure my stuff was properly tagged and ready to go.
  • Oh, and I had to decide if I wanted to offer warranties or repairs for the stuff I was selling. I ended up not doing it because it seemed like too much of a hassle. But maybe I’ll look into it later.

The big difference between this consignment thing and just selling stuff directly is that I don’t give up ownership of my stuff until it’s actually sold. So, if something doesn’t sell, I still own it. That’s kind of cool, I guess. It gave me the sense of security. After I realized that I started to feel more confident about this business.

So yeah, that’s my story of starting Consignor’s Empire LLC. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m getting the hang of it. And hey, at least now I know what a consignor is!
