Valorant Not Opening on PC: Troubleshooting Guide

Okay, so I wanted to play some Valorant today, you know, just to kill some time. But guess what? It just wouldn’t open. I clicked the icon, and nothing happened. I tried again and again, but nope, still nothing.

So, the first thing I did was check my Task Manager. I just right-clicked on the taskbar and clicked “Task Manager.” Easy peasy. I saw some processes related to Valorant and Riot Vanguard, so I ended them all. I thought, “Maybe this will do the trick,” but nah, still no luck.

Then, I remembered something about graphics drivers. I went to the NVIDIA website (since I have an NVIDIA card) and downloaded the latest drivers. I mean, it’s always good to keep those updated, right? After installing the new drivers, I restarted my computer, feeling hopeful. I launched Valorant again, but nothing.

I also remembered that sometimes my PC gets really hot when I play games. I mean, the fans start spinning like crazy, and you can practically fry an egg on the back of my laptop. So, I thought maybe it’s an overheating issue. But today, it wasn’t even warm, so that couldn’t be it.

Next, I checked for other driver updates. I typed “Device Manager” in the Windows search bar and went through the list. I didn’t really see anything that needed updating, but I did it anyway, just in case. Still, Valorant refused to cooperate.

After that, I thought to myself why not to try to reinstall it? I uninstalled the game completely, and downloaded it again from scratch. It took a while, but I was patient. Finally, I clicked the install button, waited for it to finish, and tried launching the game.

AND IT WORKED! Finally, I could play!

So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with Valorant today. Turns out I just needed to reinstall the game. If you ever have the same problem, just remember these steps, it will work eventually!

  • Open Task Manager and end all Valorant and Riot Vanguard processes.
  • Update your graphics drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
  • Check for other driver updates in Device Manager.
  • Make sure your PC isn’t overheating.
  • Reinstall the game.

What a day! But in the end, I got to play some Valorant, and that’s all that matters.
