Okay, so I really wanted to watch the World Series, but I’m not about to shell out for cable. No way, not in this economy. So, I started digging around to see how I could stream it online for free. First thing I did was check if my old digital antenna still worked.

I dusted off that bad boy, hooked it up to my TV, and crossed my fingers. Boom! I got a bunch of channels, including Fox, which is where the World Series is aired. It was a little fuzzy at first, so I messed around with the antenna’s position. I tried putting it higher, near the window, and in different spots around the living room. After some trial and error, I finally found a sweet spot where the reception was crystal clear. Score!
Antenna testing
- Tried different locations (near the window, higher up).
- Adjusted the antenna’s position until I got a clear picture.
But let’s say you don’t have an antenna or can’t get a good signal. No worries, there are other ways. I looked into some of those streaming services that have live TV. Turns out, a bunch of them offer Fox – services like Hulu with Live TV, DirectTV Stream, Fubo, Sling TV, and YouTube TV. I didn’t really want to sign up for a new service, but I saw that most of them have free trials. So, you could theoretically sign up for a free trial, watch the World Series, and then cancel before you get charged. Pretty sneaky, huh?
There’s also the Fox Sports website. You can stream games there, but I think you might need a cable login, which kind of defeats the purpose if you’re trying to ditch cable.
The app is free to download, but you need to pay to watch live games. So I gave up on the idea of using the app.
Anyway, using my trusty old antenna worked like a charm for me. I got to watch the entire World Series without spending an extra dime. And let me tell you, it was a nail-biter! Totally worth the effort of fiddling with the antenna. High five to free TV!
