On This Dean Ambrose WWE Return Chatter
Alright, so this whole Dean Ambrose, or Jon Moxley, call him what you want, coming back to WWE thing. It pops up now and then, doesn’t it? People get all worked up. Most of the time, it’s just noise, if you ask me.

The fella left. Had his reasons. WWE creative, the grind, wanting to be himself. And he’s done pretty well for himself since, hasn’t he? Became a big deal elsewhere. So, why would he even bother coming back? That’s the million-dollar question, or maybe the multi-million dollar one, knowing how these contracts go.
But, you know, I was actually kicking this around the other day. Not because I heard some hot new rumor, nah. It was simpler than that. I was stuck in traffic, absolutely crawling, and my mind just started wandering. That’s my “practice” sometimes – just letting the thoughts drift when there’s nothing else to do. And this Ambrose thing floated up.
So, I started thinking, okay, if, and it’s a big IF, they managed to get him back, how would they even do it? They botched his last run solo, let’s be honest. After The Shield, it was a bit of a mess. Those wacky promos, the hot dog cart, the germaphobe stuff? Come on. The guy was a legit bada, and they had him doing that nonsense. No wonder he walked.
My little mental exercise went something like this:
- First off, you can’t bring him back as the old Dean Ambrose. That ship has sailed, sunk, and is probably a reef by now.
- He’d have to be Moxley, or some version of it. Mean, intense, the guy we see now.
- And the story? It couldn’t be for some mid-card fluff. He’d have to come in hot, targeting someone big. Roman, obviously. Or maybe Seth, stir up that old Shield drama.
The thing is, WWE, even with new folks in charge, they still have their ways. Would they really let him be him? Or would they try to sanitize him, fit him into their little box again? That’s the sticking point for me. It’s always the sticking point with guys who have strong ideas about their characters.
This whole line of thought, it actually reminded me of something. Years ago, I tried to get back into an old hobby, model building. I’d seen some cool kits online, thought it’d be relaxing. So, I bought all the gear – the paints, the tiny brushes, even one of those fancy airbrush things. Spent a whole weekend hunched over this intricate plane model. The parts were ridiculously small, and the instructions looked like they were written in another language. I got so darn frustrated, I tell ya, I nearly launched the whole thing across the garage. In the end, I just packed it all back into the box. It’s still up in the attic, collecting dust. Sometimes, going back to something, or trying to rekindle an old flame, even if you think it’ll be different this time, it just drags up all the old frustrations and why you stopped in the first place. Maybe it’d be like that for him, trying to go back to WWE.
So, yeah, my “practice” of figuring out a Dean Ambrose return ended up being more about why it probably wouldn’t work out, or why it’d be a massive gamble for him and maybe for them too. It’s fun to think about the pop, the surprise, sure. But then reality, or at least my version of it, kicks in. Still, keeps the mind busy when you’re stuck in traffic, right? Better than staring at the bumper in front of you.
