Alright, let’s talk about my run through the main quests in Dead Island 2. It’s been a bit of a ride, bashing my way through LA.

Getting Started – Crash and Burn
So, I fired up the game. Picked Jacob – seemed like a tough guy, good for smashing things up close. The game kicks off hard with that plane crash. Woke up in the middle of the mess, fire everywhere. First job was just getting out alive, you know?
Stumbled out of the wreckage, met a few other survivors. We somehow made our way to this huge mansion in Bel-Air. Emma Jaunt’s place, apparently some celebrity actress. Seemed safe for a hot minute.
Bel-Air Shenanigans
Turns out, safety’s temporary. Had to go out almost immediately. Scavenging for supplies, finding basic weapons – pipes, planks, whatever wasn’t nailed down. It was pretty brutal early on, just trying to survive. Met Sam B there! That was a nice surprise, definitely recognized him. Found out I was immune, bitten but not turning. This whole Numen thing they kept mentioning. Spent a good while running around Bel-Air:
- Fixing stuff for Emma.
- Clearing out neighboring mansions.
- Getting used to the different zombie types.
It felt a bit like errand running, but smashing zombies kept it interesting.
Checking Out the Halperin Hotel
Next big location was the Halperin Hotel. Place was an absolute nightmare, crawling with undead. Had to fight room by room, floor by floor. Some real tough ones in there. Remember that massive bride zombie? Becki the Bride, I think. Man, she soaked up damage. Took a few tries and a lot of my medkits. Felt real good putting her down though. Got some decent gear from that whole ordeal.

Sewer Detour and Beverly Hills
After the hotel, the path led through the sewers. Ugh, sewer levels. Always dark, always gross. But it was the way to Beverly Hills. Popped out into another rich neighborhood. More fancy houses, more zombies. Helped out some survivors stuck in their homes. Think I found the blueprint for the Chem Bomb around here. That explosive jar of goo became a real favourite later on. Beverly Hills felt a bit more open, less claustrophobic than the hotel.
Movie Magic Mayhem – Monarch Studios
Monarch Studios was the next stop. That place was wild. Fighting zombies on movie sets, through sound stages, Western towns, sci-fi scenes. It was surreal. Had to deal with that director guy, Alesis Hernandez. He was… memorable. A lot of running back and forth quests in the studio lot. Found some cool weapon mods and blueprints here though, started getting creative with my zombie-slaying tools.
Sun, Sand, and Slaughter – The Pier
From the studios, I headed towards the coast. Santa Monica Pier. Big change of pace visually. Sunny skies, ocean breeze… and hordes of flesh-eaters. Had that whole sequence trying to get the Ferris wheel working again. Fought a Butcher down there, those fast guys with the bone blades? Nasty piece of work. The pier felt like classic zombie outbreak stuff, an amusement park gone totally wrong.
Beach Blanket Bloodbath – CDC Zone
The pier quests eventually pointed towards this CDC quarantine zone set up right on the beach. Military tents, makeshift labs, body bags. Felt like the stakes were getting higher. Learned a bit more about what happened, what the authorities tried to do. Fought some tough armored zombies here, those guys in the hazmat suits. Had to aim carefully.
Going Underground – The Metro
Then it was time to head into the Metro system. Back into the dark tunnels. Navigating collapsed sections, fighting off zombies in close quarters with just my flashlight beam sometimes. Had to find ways to restore power, open locked gates. It felt like a proper journey connecting different parts of the ruined city.

Hollywood Horror Show – The Finale
Finally emerged onto Hollywood Boulevard. The Walk of Fame, totally trashed and covered in gore. You could feel the end was close. Met up with the main crew again. This area had the toughest zombies I’d seen yet, loads of variants all coming at once. Big, chaotic fights. Lots of explosions and using the environment to my advantage.
It all led up to the final confrontation. Fought that huge mutated monstrosity, the Reubenator. That fight was intense. Took everything I had – dodging, weaving, hitting weak spots, using every trick I learned. Finally brought it down.
Watched the ending cutscenes. Felt pretty good to have beaten the main story. Took a fair bit of time, smashed a lot of heads. The ending kind of leaves things hanging, but getting through the main quests in Dead Island 2? Yeah, it was a solid, bloody good time.
