Alright, so I decided I wanted to catch a Cleveland Indians game. It’d been a while, and I felt like heading down to the ballpark, Progressive Field.
First thing I did was hop on my computer. Didn’t really know where to start, just kinda typed in stuff about Cleveland Indians seating charts. Needed to figure out where the heck I wanted to sit without spending a fortune.
A bunch of stadium maps popped up. Looked confusing at first, all these sections and numbers. I remembered sitting way up in the upper deck once before. Felt like I needed binoculars just to see the players. Decided right then I wasn’t doing that again. Wanted to feel a bit closer to the action this time.
Figuring Out the Sections
So I started looking closer at the chart. Those seats right behind home plate, the fancy club ones? Yeah, checked the prices just for laughs. Way out of my budget. Forget that.
Then I looked at the outfield. Bleachers seemed like fun, maybe catch a home run ball? But I also kinda like seeing the whole field, you know? Watching the plays develop. Outfield felt a bit far for that perspective.
Considered the baseline sections. Down the first base line or third base line. Seemed like a decent compromise. Not ridiculously expensive, but closer than the upper deck. Had to think about the sun too. Afternoon games can get really hot on one side.
My Thought Process Went Something Like This:
- Upper Deck: Nope, too high up.
- Club Seats/Behind Home Plate: Too pricey.
- Outfield: Maybe, but prefer a wider view.
- Lower Baselines: Getting warmer…
- Upper Baselines: Better price, still decent view?
Making the Choice
I zoomed in on the sections along the first base side, maybe in the upper part of the lower level, or the lower part of the upper level. Seemed like a good balance. You could see the whole infield, most of the outfield, and it wasn’t gonna break the bank.
Compared a few rows in one of those sections. Didn’t want to be right at the very front of the upper section, sometimes the railing gets in the way. Didn’t want to be too far back either. Found some seats maybe 10-15 rows up on the first base side. Looked decent on the virtual view thing they sometimes have.
Just decided to go for it. Clicked buy, printed the tickets (yeah, I still print them sometimes), and that was that.
Went to the game a few weeks later. The seats? They were pretty solid, actually. Good view of the field, wasn’t roasting in the sun, close enough to the restrooms and the important stuff, like beer and hot dogs. Felt like I made a good call just by studying that chart for a bit and thinking about what I didn’t want based on past times.
