Okay, let’s talk about Helldivers 2 and this whole cross-save thing. I was really looking forward to jumping between my PC setup and kicking back on the couch with my PS5. Seemed like a no-brainer these days, right?

Getting Started and Checking the Obvious
So, first thing I did was grab the game on both platforms. Got it installed on Steam, got it installed on the PS5. Fired up the PC version first, played through the tutorial, got my cape, felt like a real hero of Super Earth. Then I thought, okay, time to see how this syncs up.
I started digging through the menus. You know how it usually goes: settings, account options, something like ‘Link Account’ or ‘Cloud Save’. I spent a good bit of time poking around in the options on both the PC version and the PS5 version. Nothing jumped out at me. No clear button, no specific section for cross-progression.
Linking Accounts – The Hopeful Step
I know the game pushes you to link your Steam account to a PlayStation Network account. I figured, “Ah, this must be it!” So, I went through that whole process. Logged into my PSN, authorized the link with Steam. Felt pretty optimistic at this point. Surely, linking the accounts meant the progress would follow me, right?
Fired up the PS5 version after linking. Logged in… and nope. Back to square one. Fresh recruit, no unlocks, no progress carried over from my PC session. Okay, maybe it takes time? Logged back into the PC version. Still had my progress there, but nothing from the brief PS5 login synced back. The account link didn’t seem to do anything for save games.
Hitting the Forums and Finding Answers
Alright, plan C. Time to see what everyone else was saying. I started searching around online, checked out some community forums, places like Reddit where players were chatting about the game. Didn’t take long to find the answer.

Turns out, my initial assumption was just plain wrong. Based on what folks were saying and what seemed to be the official word filtering through developers’ comments here and there:
- Helldivers 2 does not currently support cross-save or cross-progression between PC and PS5.
- Your progress, unlocks, currency – everything – is locked to the platform you earned it on.
- The PSN account linking is mainly for social features or potentially other backend stuff, not for merging your saves.
So, What Now?
Well, that was a bit of a bummer. I guess I have to pick a main platform and stick with it if I care about progression. It’s not the end of the world, the game is still a blast, but it does kinda sting. You get used to that flexibility in other games.
So yeah, that was my little adventure trying to get cross-save working. Lots of digging in menus, linking accounts, and finally just finding out online that it wasn’t actually a feature. Hopefully, maybe they’ll add it down the line? Who knows. For now, just gotta pick your battlefield and commit! Sharing this just in case anyone else was scratching their head wondering the same thing.
