What I pieced together is that most NFL GMs are likely making somewhere between $1 million and maybe up to $5 million per year in base salary. That seemed to be the most common range people were throwing around.
But here’s the kicker:

- Market size: A GM for a team in a huge market might pull in more than one in a smaller market, though that wasn’t always clear.
- Negotiation: Like any big job, it comes down to what they can negotiate with the team owner.
So, there’s no easy answer like “NFL GMs make X dollars”. It’s a range, and it’s kept pretty private. You see estimates, you see reports when a new guy gets hired maybe, but the exact contracts aren’t usually public knowledge. It’s definitely a high-pressure job, managing the roster, the draft, the salary cap… makes sense they get paid well, but pinning down the exact number for each guy is tough work. What I know for sure is, it’s comfortably in the multi-million dollar territory for most of them.
