Okay, so today I’m gonna chat about something I messed around with recently: London rugby union teams. Not gonna lie, it started with me just being bored and wanting to learn something new. Here’s how it went down.

First off, I started with a quick Google search. Just typed in “London rugby teams” and boom, loads of stuff popped up. Wikipedia was the first thing I clicked on, obviously. It had a decent list, but felt kinda…dry. You know, just names and maybe a brief sentence.
Then, I decided to dig deeper. I started checking out individual team websites. Saracens, Harlequins, London Irish (well, now they’re not around anymore, sadly) – all the big names. Just browsed their history sections, looked at the current squads, that kind of stuff.
Next, I tried to get a feel for the different leagues. I mean, I knew about the Premiership, but what about the lower leagues? That’s where things got interesting. There are so many smaller clubs scattered around London, playing at different levels. Finding info on those was a bit trickier. Had to bounce around a few different rugby news sites and forums.
I made a list of the teams. Started with the big boys in the Premiership, then moved down the ladder. I even included some of the university teams, like Imperial College and UCL, just for fun. Ended up with a pretty long list, covering a wide range of skill levels and geographical areas.
After that, I tried to map them out. Found a map of London and started plotting where each team was based. This actually gave me a much better sense of the spread of rugby across the city. Turns out, there are clubs everywhere, from Twickenham to Hackney.

Then, I got a bit nerdy and started comparing their social media presence. I know, I know, sounds lame. But it was actually pretty insightful. Some teams were all over Twitter and Instagram, posting regular updates and engaging with fans. Others were…less active. It kinda reflected their overall profile, I guess.
Finally, I put it all together in a simple doc. Just a basic list of teams, their league, their location, and maybe a quick note about their history or social media. Nothing fancy, but it was a good way to organize all the information I’d gathered.
So yeah, that’s pretty much it. I spent a few hours just digging around, learning about London rugby. It was a fun little rabbit hole to go down. And who knows, maybe I’ll even catch a game sometime soon! Cheers!
