Alright, so today I decided to get back into that tap tap challenge thing. It’s been bugging me for a while now, you know? Felt like I hit a plateau, just couldn’t get past a certain point. My main goal today was just to push through that, even just a little bit.
So, I started it up. First few goes were pretty rough, not gonna lie. My fingers felt like sausages, totally out of sync. I was either tapping way too early or completely missing the beat. Kept messing up the same simple sequences. Honestly, it was pretty frustrating right off the bat. Kept thinking, why am I finding this so tricky?
I took a moment, watched the patterns instead of just blindly tapping. Noticed my hand was really tense. Big mistake. Tried to consciously relax my grip, take deeper breaths. Focused on just the very next tap, not worrying about the whole song or level. I even switched from using my thumb to my index finger, thought maybe that’d be faster. Felt a bit different, maybe slightly better, maybe not.
Things started to pick up a tiny bit after that. I found a bit of a groove on the slower parts. Scores nudged up, not by much, but it was something. But then came the faster sections… disaster again. Those rapid-fire taps, they just break my rhythm every single time. Had one decent run, almost beat my old score, then immediately bombed the next three attempts. That’s the really annoying part, the inconsistency.
Had to put it down for a few minutes. Grabbed some water, walked around a bit. Sometimes you just need to reset the brain, you know?
Went back for a final round. This time, I tried really listening to the sound cues, matching my taps to the audio rhythm instead of just reacting to the visuals. That actually seemed to help more than anything else I tried today. I managed to clear one specific tricky pattern that always tripped me up. Felt like a small victory! Of course, right after that, I messed up on an easy part. Classic.

So, How Did It Go?
End of the practice session. Did I smash my old record? Nope. Still stuck in the same general spot. But, I don’t feel like it was a total waste. Experimenting with relaxing my hand, changing fingers, focusing on audio – that’s gotta count for something. It showed me some things to work on.
Still frustrating, yeah. But progress isn’t always a straight line, right? It’s often messy like this. Guess I’ll just have to keep grinding at it. Maybe tomorrow will be the day. That’s the nature of practice, just gotta keep showing up and tapping away.
