Okay, so I was messing around with Word today, trying to figure out a quick way to find all the words ending in “le”. It’s one of those random things that pops into your head, and you just have to find the answer, you know?
My Little Experiment
First, I opened up a blank Word document. Just stared at that blinking cursor for a bit, thinking about how to even approach this.
Then, I started typing out a bunch of random words. Some ended in “le,” some didn’t. I figured I needed some sample text to work with. It looked something like this:
- apple
- table
- banana
- candle
- simple
- orange
Next, I remembered Word has that “Find and Replace” feature. I clicked on “Replace” in the ribbon (it’s usually on the right side under the “Editing” section). That brought up the Find and Replace window.
In the “Find what” box, I typed in “le”. Now I add special symbols with “le”, so I typed “<(le)>”. The “<” means “beginning of a word”,and “>” means “end of a word”.
I left the “Replace with” box blank. I mean, I didn’t want to replace anything, just find the words.
I clicked on the “More >>” button to expand the options. I was hunting for something that would let me specify the end of a word. I am looking for options that allow me to make more precise matches. So,I checked “Use wildcards”.
Then I clicked “Find Next” and boom! Word highlighted the first word ending in “le”. I kept clicking “Find Next,” and it jumped to each word that matched. It was pretty satisfying, actually.
So, yeah, that’s how I figured out how to find words ending in “le” in Word. It might not be the most groundbreaking discovery, but it was a fun little exercise. It’s always cool to learn something new, even if it’s just a tiny little trick in a program you use every day.
