F1 2016 Game PS4 Review: Is It Still Worth Playing Today?

Okay, here’s my blog post about playing F1 2016 on PS4, written in a casual, personal style:

So, I decided to dust off my old PS4 and give F1 2016 a go. I’ve had this game for, like, forever, but never really sunk my teeth into it. Figured it was time for a trip down memory lane, and boy, was it a ride!

Getting Started

First things first, I grabbed my PS4 controller, blew off the dust (seriously, it was thick), and fired up the console. The familiar PS4 startup sound hit me with a wave of nostalgia. I navigated to the game library and found F1 2016, its icon still shining brightly.

I hit “Start,” and the game’s intro sequence began. The roar of the engines, the quick cuts of racing action – it got my adrenaline pumping already! I chose the “Quick Race” mode, because, let’s be honest, I just wanted to get straight to the action.

My First Race

  • Track Selection: I picked the Monza circuit, because, Italy! It’s iconic, fast, and I figured it would be a good test of my (rusty) skills.
  • Team and Driver: I went with Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton. Gotta go with the best, right? No offense to any Rosberg fans out there.
  • Race Settings: I kept the settings pretty standard – no assists, medium AI difficulty. I wanted a challenge, but not an impossible one.

The formation lap was tense. I could feel the virtual G-forces as I took the car around the track, trying to warm up the tires. Then, the lights… five red dots… and they went out!

I mashed the accelerator, and the car lurched forward. I got a decent start, but the AI was aggressive. I fought my way through the first few corners, trying to find my racing line and avoid any collisions. It was chaotic, to say the least! I made up a few positions but lost a couple, too. The sound of the engines all around me was intense.

Lap after lap, I tried to get into a rhythm. Braking at the right points, accelerating smoothly out of the corners… it was all about precision. I managed to overtake a few cars, using DRS on the straights and diving down the inside on some corners. Some moves were clean; others… well, let’s just say there was a bit of wheel-banging.

The tire wear was starting to become a factor. I could feel the car becoming less responsive, especially in the high-speed corners. I considered pitting for fresh tires, but I decided to gamble and stay out.

The Finish Line

The last few laps were nail-biting. My tires were shot, and the AI cars were closing in. I was white-knuckling the controller, sweating like crazy. I crossed the finish line, managing to hold onto a respectable 5th place. Not bad for a first go after so long!

Overall Experience

It was a blast! F1 2016 might be a few years old, but it still holds up. The racing is intense, the graphics are decent, and the feeling of speed is incredible. I’m definitely going to be playing this more often.
