Celebrating July 4th 2016: Heres How America Marked Its Independence Day That Year.

Well, let me tell you about that July 4th back in 2016. That was a hot one, I remember. We all gathered ’round, just like every year.

This here is about July 4th 2016. You know, Independence Day. It’s a big deal, this day. It’s when them smart folks signed that paper saying we’re our own bosses now, not those Redcoats across the ocean.

July 4th, a Big Day

They call it the Declaration of Independence. I heard it was all decided on July 4, 1776. That’s a long time ago! Longer than I been around, that’s for sure. But hey, that July 4th 2016, that’s the one I’m yarnin’ about.

That paper, the Declaration of Independence, it was a big deal. Said we were our own country, the United States of America. And we’ve been celebrating ever since. Every July 4th, folks get together.

What We Did in 2016

Back in 2016, it was the same. We had us a big ol’ party. Lots of folks. I don’t recall what year of independence day it was, 240th, maybe, 241th, too old to remember those numbers. All I remember is that day was sure full of joy.

We had ourselves the fireworks, just like always. Bright and loud, lighting up the sky. I’ve seen a lot of fireworks in my day, but they always get me. Kids love ’em, too.

  • Red fireworks
  • Blue fireworks
  • White fireworks
  • All kinds of fireworks!

We had us a parade, too. I recall that big event, in fact, every July 4th there is one. Folks marching, waving flags. Lots of red, white, and blue. You couldn’t miss it if you tried. That’s what I remember most about July 4th 2016.

Remembering July 4th 2016

That day, July 4th 2016, it was a Monday. I remember ’cause the weekend was long. We got all ready, cooking and cleaning. Lots of work, but worth it.

We had the family over. All the kids and grandkids. Running around, laughing, playing games. That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it? Family. And celebrating being free.

Some folks say the real day was July 2nd. That’s when they did all the deciding, I guess. But we celebrate on the 4th. That’s when they signed that paper, I reckon. That’s the day everyone remembers, July 4th. And back in 2016 it was no different.

Independence Day is Important

This country, it’s a good one. We got our freedom. That’s what them folks fought for, way back when. And we remember them, every July 4th. We remember what they did.

It ain’t always easy, being free. Lots of arguing, lots of different opinions. But that’s okay. That’s part of it. We can say what we want, do what we want. Within reason, of course. Gotta have rules, you know.

July 4th 2016 was a good day. A day to remember. A day to be thankful. A day for fireworks and parades and family. A day to celebrate being American. I don’t know how many more fourth of July I can see, I am old enough now. But I will tell you, I sure will try my best to remember that day.

Why We Celebrate July 4th

Why do we do it? Why do we celebrate July 4th? ‘Cause it’s important, that’s why. It’s about our history. It’s about being free. It’s about being American. And on July 4th 2016, we sure were.

We ate good food, too. Hot dogs, hamburgers, apple pie. All the good stuff. You can’t have a July 4th celebration without good food. Especially that apple pie. My grandma used to make the best apple pie. I try to make it like hers, but it’s never quite the same. I think that’s the best part about July 4th 2016, good food and good company.

So that’s my story about July 4th 2016. Just a regular old day, but special, too. A day to remember our independence. A day to celebrate being American. A day for family and friends and fireworks. Hope you enjoyed my little story here. I might be old, but I remember that day like it was yesterday.

Hope next July 4th will be great, too. I hope I can be there to see those fireworks again.
