Alright, guys, so I’ve been messing around with my Yamaha RD 350 lately, and I wanted to see just how fast this thing could go. I’ve heard stories, you know, seen some videos, but I wanted to experience it myself, on my own bike.

First things first, I made sure my RD 350 was in decent shape. I mean, you don’t want to push a bike to its limits if it’s not running right. So, I:
- Checked the tires: Made sure they were properly inflated and had good tread. No bald tires for this test!
- Checked the Brakes: I need to ensure that it runs well and I also need to stop.
- Lubed the chain: A smooth chain is a happy chain, and a happy chain means more power to the wheel.
- Topped off the fluids: Oil, coolant, all that good stuff.
- Gave it a good warm-up: I let the engine run for a bit to get everything nice and toasty.
Next, I needed a good spot. I’m not about to do this on a busy road. So, I found a long, straight stretch of deserted highway early in the morning. Safety first, people!
I geared up, helmet on, of course, and took a deep breath. Time to see what this baby could do!
I started off slow, getting a feel for the bike and the road. Then, I started opening it up. First gear, second gear, third gear… the acceleration on this thing is insane! It just pulls and pulls.
I kept shifting, pushing it harder and harder. The wind was screaming past me, the engine was roaring, and the scenery was blurring. It was exhilarating!

I glanced down at the speedometer… and holy moly! I hit a top speed that I’m honestly a little scared to even mention. Let’s just say it was well above the posted speed limit, and definitely faster than I’ve ever gone on a bike before. I’ve heard people say these things can hit 100 mph, and I can now believe it. The needle was pointing high.
I backed off after that, slowing down gradually. My heart was pounding, my hands were a little shaky, but I had a huge grin on my face. What a rush!
I did the test again, this time I prepared my phone to record my speed, it showed on my phone that I got around 170km, that’s very amazing!
Conclusion of My Test
The Yamaha RD 350 is a beast. It’s fast, it’s raw, and it’s an absolute blast to ride. But it’s also a bit of a handful. You need to respect this bike, or it will bite you. Would I recommend doing a top-speed run? Maybe, if you’re experienced and have a safe place to do it. But be careful out there, guys. These bikes are legendary for a reason!
