Okay, here’s my blog post about “1 divided by 2”, written from a personal, practical perspective:

So, I messed around with something super basic today, but it’s actually kinda cool when you think about it. I was playing with numbers and decided to do 1 divided by 2. Yeah, I know, sounds dumb, but stick with me.
Getting Started
First, I just grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. Nothing fancy. I wanted to see it visually, you know? I wrote down the “1” and then drew that division symbol – the one that looks like a little house. Then I put the “2” outside the house.
The Process
I stared at it for a sec. It’s obvious you can’t really divide 1 by 2 and get a whole number. So, I remembered that trick where you add a decimal point and a zero after the 1, making it 1.0. That’s totally allowed, right? Because 1.0 is the same as 1.
- Step 1: Write down 1 ÷ 2.
- Step 2: Add a decimal and a zero to the 1 (1.0).
- Step 3: Start dividing!
Now, I could see how many times 2 goes into 10 (forgetting about the decimal for a moment). It goes in 5 times, perfectly! So, I wrote a “5” above the line, right after where the decimal point would go.
I multiplied 5 and 2, got 10, and wrote that under the 10. I subtracted, and obviously got zero. Boom! Done.

The Result
So there it was, the answer: 0.5. I mean, I knew that 1 divided by 2 was 0.5, but actually working it out, seeing the steps…it just felt different. Like, I actually understood it, not just memorized it.
I even tried it on a calculator later, just to double-check. Yep, 0.5. It’s the little things, you know? Sometimes, going back to the basics can be pretty satisfying. It makes you appreciate how numbers actually work.
